Biography:
Although Alexandra received her degree from the University of Pennsylvania in psychology, her coursework in the arts was extensive, including printmaking, art history, and glassblowing at the Tyler School of Arts. While home raising two small children, Alex revisited her love of textiles by taking up knitting and sewing using rich materials and antique accents, which eventually evolved into jewelry designs with rich textural and historical elements. The addition of Art Clay Silver into her pieces has allowed Alex originality previously unavailable through pre-made findings, the result being traditional pieces with a modern twist, inspired by nature, incorporating pearls and gemstones. These products have been sold under the company name " Purls" and "Alexandra J. Designs" at the Artworks Gallery at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Zephyr Gallery and Pandion Gallery, as well as several prestigious craft shows. |
