Biography:
I have been creating things my whole life. At an early age I learned how to cut precious stones and went on to work with Polymer Clay and then into making glass beads. My favorite stones to work with are opals - with their unique combination of light, texture and color. Incorporating these materials into Art Clay is exciting and challenging. As my skills increase I seek opportunities to share what I have learned. |
Philosophy:
Creation is essential to living - without it we may exist, but we do not live. I firmly believe that EVERYONE needs to find a creative outlet. ACS fills this need. I continuously strive to acquire knowledge and skill in new media, with each addition expanding and enhancing my ability to express myself more articulately. As a math major, I have a deep love for geometry. Consequently, the exploration and dynamics of angles are a central facet of my work. My early exposure to, and subsequent love of, opals and their unique combinations of light, texture and color is also an integral part of what I do. Years of living in Asia have infused my work with an Oriental aspect that integrates well with my love of nature and the fluid forms that inspire me.
