Biography:
I am a graduate of Marquette University with a BSN in Nursing. I am currently retired and live in the western suburbs of Chicago. I am currently a member in the West Suburban Lapidary club. I do silversmithing, wirewrapping, lapidary (stone cutting and polishing). I have also taken classes in opal cutting and polishing. I love doing dichroic glass and combining it with Art Clay Silver. I am currently a Senior Instructor for Art Clay World. I have had a love of stones and jewelry since my younger days which I spent picking up colored pieces of beach glass. As a Senior Instructor, I teach on an individual basis upon request. |
Philosophy:
My teaching philosophy is to teach proper techniques and finishes of all Art Clay pieces; impart understanding of the properties of Art Clay and how it responds. I give as much personal attention as possible and answer questions fully. I think classes should be fun and stimulate the students own innate creativity. Classes are a time to learn how to file, sand, cut, etc. and encompassing all the techniques with different products. Finally, during class you will learn how the products fire at different temperatures and their reactions. With the techniques taught you cantruly let your imagination create the pieces you have always dreamed of. My classes will follow the Art Clay guidelines exactly and will cover all techniques in order to maintain the high standards of the Art Clay program. Art Clay is a great medium to create jewelry that can't be created with fabrication.
