  • Biography:
Gale Tomlinson (that’s me) mother of Debbie, step-mom of four, grandmother of 12, great grandmother of four and wife of the one and only Glen Tomlinson M.D.

I am a native Chicagoan and retired Insurance Broker as of 1992.

I have always had a love for fashion and so upon retirement began my studies for a degree in Fashion Design at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.

Until I started school I was never focused on just one creative endeavor. My creative outlets over the years were knitting, sewing, needlepoint, quilling, drawing, teddy bear construction, antique china painting and teaching ceramics. I have always been happiest when involved in creativity.

In 1996 after finishing my education we decided to purchase a motor home and go on the road. This lifestyle did not lend itself to Fashion Desing and its necessary tools. My frien Denis suggested beading, gave me a crash course in peyote stitch and this began my 12 year journey in jewelry making and my company, Gato Inspirations.

Art clay is my latest endeavor. I love the absence of boundaries which makes it such an incredible medium. And so I look forward to the next chapter, Teaching!
    Philosophy:
I believe that God gives each individual a unique talent or gift. This talent is the ability to manifest beauty as one sees it.

I am personally inspired by my surroundings, by nature, by architecture and by other artists. I also believe that there are no mistakes, only opportunities for creativity.

Sharing knowledge with others is fulfilling, educational and fun! Interaction with others on a creative level affords an opportunity to learn how other view art, people, and the world we live in.

It is also intersting how a group of artist, given the same criteria and/or supplies, will each produce a unique piece – which leads back to my first statement.
    Awards / Degrees:
  • 1996/1997 Miyuki Delica Challenge (International Competition
  • Received an Honorable Mention for my piece "Maison de la Mer" published in Caravan Beads book "The Sea"
  • Western Wear award given by Fashion Group of Chicago
