Biography: I have always been interested in art – any shape or form. It all started with ceramics when I was 10 years old – my mom, brother and me working out of my dad’s old lunch pail as a tool box. I managed travel agencies, full time mom and worked for the federal prison system. During those years, I was involved in sewing, macramé, decorative painting, paper arts, rubber stamping, catering, gardening – oh it just goes on and on.
Now, years later, with my husband Jim and almost adult children, I am fortunate enough to have an opportunity to explore new options. I started teaching paper arts at a local stamp store. In the summer of 2007, I was introduced to Art Clay and immediately became a Level One Certified Instructor. Art Clay has grown to be a passion in me – so much so – within one year of receiving my Level 1 certification, I trained for and received my Art Clay Silver Senior teaching certificate. That same summer (July 2008) , I opened a studio, classroom, retail outlet for Art Clay (the only distributor in Colorado) in a building my husband and I purchased. I not only provide instruction, but carry all the supplies you need. I also have a consignment gallery here in Canon City, Colorado. I teach all levels of Art Clay – beginner, specific projects and all certification levels. So, whether you are vacationing or live here please stop by. |
Philosophy: My philosophy is simple. Everyone has a passion – and nourishing this passion is necessary to complete us. My passion is art, but also inspiring and teaching others. Whether it is metal clay, paper arts, silk painting, or wet felting, I offer instruction in them all. I encourage you to try. In this busy world of ours, it is difficult to make the time and/or have the energy to embrace these inner passions. I want to help you discover your creativity. Art Clay provides me just the medium inspire you. With minimal instruction and supplies, anyone can make silver jewelry or wearable art! Also, living in a small community, I found it difficult to get my hands on the supplies I needed without traveling 100 miles roundtrip or ordering from the internet and then paying the shipping and handling charges – and waiting. This is why I stock a full line of Art Clay, all the tools and equipment you need, along with silk painting and wet felting supplies. I keep my metal clay classes to four or less students. This gives you the one–on–one attention you deserve. I teach children, teens, adults, seniors and individuals with special needs.
