What do you love about Art Clay?
Art Clay allows for so much creative freedom. You can fold, carve stamp and braid it or leave it flat and shining, etc. The possibilities are really unlimited. This allows someone who feels they have no creativity to those of us who can not seem to stop being creative to make lovely pieces of art work. Not only do I get to work with the medium, I get to teach others that they too can be creative!
What are your favorite Art Clay projects/creations?
I have enjoyed most all of the pieces I have created, However I enjoy working with setting natural stones with bezels the most. I know that I can set almost anything, shells, rocks, other metals, anything into Art Clay.
What other media do you work and/or teach in?
I have worked with most every artistic medium that there is in my creative lifetime, but currently I have focused on teaching and working with Art Clay and Stained/Hot glass. There are just so many possibilities for experimentation and growth!!
Biography:
I now have a scenic studio, located beside my small cabin sitting at 10,000 ft in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. There cannot be a more creative place to work-looking out and feeling on top of the world, being secluded from the "real" world everyday has it’s advantages. Many of my inspirations come from Nature around me, elk, badgers, deer, cattle, horses, trees, clouds, rocks, they all help me to create and be excited and thankful about my life.

In the 6 years that I have been working with Art Clay and teaching, I have found that I thrive on sharing this medium, as well as inspiration with my students. As a Senior Instructor, my venues for teaching range from small bead stores and Rock shops to National Bead and Altered Arts conferences as well as in–home classes. Every one of these venues is fun, creative and satisfying, however the most fun are when students visit me at my little piece of heaven in the mountains.
Philosophy:
Accepting your need to be creative without self criticism! So many of us get so caught up with ‘life’ and don’t realize that part of living is letting yourself be you. And we all have some sort of need for creative outlet. Whether that is sculpting, writing, decorating, painting bodies or building things make sure to let yours out and express yourself !! Enjoy what you do and smile everyday!!!
