What do you love about Art Clay? I love that Art Clay is so versatile and easy to work with. It’s also easy to teach to others. Students always like taking home their own personalized creation. |
What are your favorite Art Clay projects/creations? My favorite creation is the "Eye of Ra" or wedjat. I also like my sun pendant because the liver of sulfur turned it a goldish color like the sun (and gold). |
What other media do you work and/or teach in? I also enjoy lampworking and stained glass projects. |
Biography: I love my family and friends, cats, dogs, horses and dragons. I enjoy designing and creating jewelry, making glass beads, gardening and am quite the avid reader, especially mysteries. I live with my husband and an assortment of wild and domestic critters on 2.5 acres NE of the town of Clovis in central California – the heart of agriculture.& I’ve also enjoyed traveling to Japan and Thailand. Next spring I will go to Australia. |
Philosophy: Humans for thousands of years have sought and created practical and/or shiny and pretty objects d’art to utilize, wear, collect and/or view. From decorated tipis and juniper berry necklaces to scrimshaw and carved knife handles, stones and amulets, stella and pyramids. Everyone needs at least one creative outlet to tinker with. I enjoy jewelry making and "playing" with Art Clay as part of my creative repertoire. |
Awards / Degrees: Art Clay Senior Certification – February, 2004Necklace design published in Simply Beads – October 2005 |
