What do you love about Art Clay?
Art Clay has such versatility. Jewelry and sculpture are just some of the possibilities. I love that it’s such a new media and we’re all just discovering what Art Clay can do! I love sharing this adventure with my students and other artists.
What are your favorite Art Clay projects/creations?
In the past few years, I’ve begun to sculpt in Art Clay. I love the challenges of sculpture in silver clay.  Animals are a favorite subject matter but recently I’ve also explored figurative sculpture<
What other media do you work and/or teach in?
I teach and work in both polymer and epoxy clays. I love to sculpt figures and dolls. Polymer clay has such a life – like quality to it. And epoxy clay has a lasting strength. I enjoy bringing clay to life – no matter what kind!!
Biography:
Artistic expression has been the central focus of my life. I’ve explored many different areas of art: batik, fiber structure, paper making, Chinese brush painting, and ceramics. Sculpture became my main focus in 1990. I began to teach and share my techniques shortly after. Once I discovered silver clay, I traveled over 1000 miles to receive my certifications. And I started teaching silver clay in the year 2000. While on this creative journey, I’ve managed to marry and have two children. My husband and I have been together for over 36 years now – and the children have flown the coop. We’re enjoying our days now working on our home and swing dancing most Saturday nights!!
Philosophy:
I love to explore new materials. I love to come up with new combinations and possibilities. But most of all, I love to share with my students and help them to make their personal visions come to life. Art is a wonderful way to connect with others. Creativity enables us to live more authentically. To be able to participate and share in this journey has been a wonderful gift.
