My passion for the arts began at an early age. My paternal grandmother, a professional seamstress and tailor, taught me the value of fine craftsmanship. From her, I learned the importance of color, texture, form and function. I also learned the value that construction plays in the final product of a designer.
From my parents, I gained a passion for science, which has helped me to better understand the capabilities of and best uses for different materials when designing a piece of jewelry. My family is also filled with excellent educators, who inspired me to teach, as well. I have taught science in public schools, worked with children of all age levels in a variety of roles and been employed as a public speaker. This experience has culminated in a passion for teaching classes in metal clay, metalsmithing techniques, glass fusing and slumping. I am certified with PMC Connection, Levels I and II, Rio Grande and now, finally, Art Clay. I am also blessed with a wonderful husband and two sons, and I am very grateful for their constant, faithful support.
Artist Philosophy:
It is my passion to not just create objects of art, but to empower others to find their "inner artist". I seek to teach others to become artisans themselves, experiencing the joy of designing their own jewelry. My experience with jewelry design has become an amazing journey of self-discovery and fulfillment. I hope others find the same is true for them, as well.
