I started working in jewelry about 25 years ago. The beginning for me, as I am sure for many, was in seed beads. I woud spend hours creating peyote stitch amulet pouches. After awhile, I started looking for additional avenues of jewelry art. I started taking classes in just about everything. I learned the basics of wire-working, jump ring creations, wire-weaving, metalsmithing, soldering, and, of course, Art Clay Silver. My first class in Art Clay Silver was with Jonna Faulkner in San Diego and I was hooked! I immediately had to have a kiln, and, of course, more classes! I soon went through the training to become certified as a Level One Instructor.
Art Clay has broadened my creative energies. It allows for freedom of creativity, the joy of working with clay that is made of fine silver, and incorporating the metal clay components into jewelry with other media.
Artist Philosophy:
I believe that everyone has a creative person within just waiting to be recognized. Tapping into that resource gives me tremendous satisfaction. I have an insatiable appetite for learning new techniques and sharing them with others. Being a jewelry artist allows me the freedom to work in various media, often blending one in another. I have found great pleasure and creative freedom with Art Clay. It is a forgiving medium and is somewhat magical. I believe that as an artist, one continues to grow and learn, and most importantly, SHARE!
