While in college, I developed a deep appreciation for the botanical and entomological world that surrounds us all. The beauty, symmetry, and detail that nature is able to produce captured my imagination. After graduating, I enveloped myself in art classes, were I was exposed to metal clay. Silver clay took me back to the calm meditative internal peace that I found in ceramics as a kid. It also allowed me to connect with my dad’s career as a metalworker, finally beginning to understand the alchemy of metals. As I create I draw from the plants and insects around us. I hope to inspire curiosity and conversation about the way in which we all interpret the world. Language can be limiting, but I believe artistic works connect the missing links in understanding one another’s perspectives.
