Lis Simpson, glass bead maker and jewelry designer, has been making art glass beads since 1998. To augment her torch-worked beads, she took a wirework jewelry course from George Brown College in 1999. Her jewelry making has extended to include fused glass, wirework, and the fascinating medium of Art Clay Silver, which produces pure silver pieces. In 2002 she received her Art Clay Silver certification. She then began to teach other jewelry enthusiasts the necessary skills to work with these mediums.
Besides teaching, Lis has shown and sold her work in a number of art shows, studio tours, and galleries for fourteen years.
Being familiar with kiln-fused glass, Lis began incorporating it into her Art Clay Silver jewelry. This expanded her repertoire of projects to teach in her classes. She has taught in several art venues north of Toronto as well as more intimate sessions in her studio. |
