Biography:
Trish has been offering Workshops/Retreats in her home studio for Expanding Creative Energy & Fellowship for 20 years. She has taught approximately 500 students in Metal Clay alone & easily 1,500 since she began teaching. Trish has worked with many respected Establishments & Organizations. With a degree in Mental Health, a background in sculpture, glass, metal & jewelry making Trish has been drawn to teaching creativity. She is certified PMC, Senior with Art Clay Silver & a free-lance artist. Trish is continually broadening her skills & knowledge by training with Master Teachers in a variety of mediums.

With passion for teaching she readily shares her knowledge and ideas of how to create "Accessories for Grace" that can be used for adornment, beautification and inspiration. Trish teaches at art centers in the Dayton/Cincinnati area & offers Classes/Retreats/Open Studios in her home located in a serene countryside setting.

Creating artwork isn’t about production for Trish. It’s about movement, growth, mentally, spiritually, & personally. Her focus is the process.; The Post play-doh days brought Trish to porcelain at 11. This addiction to clay has grown, leading her on a path from poured ceramics, hand-building, sculpting & now to the metal clays.; Working as a lab assistant in the Ceramic Studio during college was another major influence. Trish fell in love with the chemistry of glazes, experimenting to push artistic expression. Involvement with student exhibitions inspired collaborative shows with other artists. Finally leading to a one-woman exhibition called "Quasi Growth".
Artist Philosophy:
Trish believes in the "Wabi Sabi" of life, or the beauty of the imperfections. For it is in embracing these imperfections that we gain opportunity in learning & growing both creatively & personally. Teaching is a passion, to help others open THEIR hidden doors of creativity. Her teaching goals are to encourage others to look within and around them for resources of materials and inspiration. Learning needs to be fun & each student nurtured. It’s all about the student. Trish feels that Art facilitates growth while depicting the journey through life. Her work is more than just expressing her own uniqueness; it’s about helping others grow through the creative process. Trish is honored to be a teacher that inspires others to find their freedom to create.

"When I teach I also learn, my giving becomes receiving through inspiration from my students. Nothing compares to the look on a student’s face when they realize that through artistic expression, they have unlocked their own hidden door to creativity."
Awards:
  • Mental Health Degree, Sinclair College, Dayton Ohio
  • "Resurrection of Brooks" Award presented by Aida Industries
