Biography:

I graduated from UWM in 1976 with a BFA and certification to teach. Thus far, I have enjoyed 30 years as a working artist. Working in various media, I have produced public and private commissions, including the publication of an art book in 1999 titled "Concrete Visions," which documents the Brady Street Pictographs (public art that I sandblasted into the sidewalks of a Milwaukee neighborhood).

In addition, I have been fortunate to teach art to people of all ages. This challenges me to constantly communicate technique, renew my knowledge of tools, and explore the purpose of the artist.

Fueled by a solid interest and background in ceramics and jewelry design, I was drawn to Art Clay Silver. I find the immediacy of the material challenges my craft and creativity.

Like a double-edged sword, the opportunities to teach as well as to create keep my spirit strong!
Artist Philosophy:

The very creation of an art object or an idea is a demonstration of truth as love-in-action. This creative act is often fraught with growing pains as well as beauty. In everything I do, I want to perform honestly and artfully, whether it is creating a work of art or helping someone to connect with his or her "truth." As Grandma Moses said, "if I wasn't painting, I'd be raising chickens; it's all art."
