Biography:

I'm a sea glass artist handcrafting jewelry and art from the frosted glass that washes up along the shore. For much of my life I've collected those ocean tumbled gems while running or walking on the beach and in my travels. Each sea glass piece has a story not only because of the history of the glass itself and it's journey in the ocean but because I had personally found it in my travels near and far. Several years ago I started selling my sea glass art and jewelry at local shows and I continued to look for new art and jewelry techniques for sea glass. I initially worked mostly with fine silver wire wrapping but when I discovered metal clay I was immediately hooked and I sought to learn as much as possible about this amazing wearable art form. With Art Clay I have a medium that I have become passionate about with endless possibilities for artistic creations as well as further learning opportunities. I am excited to share this knowledge and teach others in Art Clay.

Artist Philosophy:

Your life is your story, Make it a good one. When designing an art piece it's important to captivate a viewer and customer not only by creating something beautiful but also by telling a story, setting a mood and connecting that person to a place. With my Art Clay creations, the story often starts with my own in collecting a sea glass piece on a beach and connecting someone else to that place and story, allowing the story to extend to their own memories and experience. I love that metal clay allows for this expression with endless possibilities for artistic creativity. With Art Clay I have a wonderful medium to work with as well as support and encouragement for sharing and teaching others. I was so fortunate to have found my instructor, Marilyn Cook, through Art Clay and look forward to the opportunity to teach others this amazing art that inspired me to take classes with her. When you find something that you are truly passionate about it is important and enjoyable to pass on that knowledge to others so that they might do the same. I am thankful to Art Clay and my instructor for teaching me and I look forward to teaching others.
