I have been intrigued with jewelry making since I was a teenager, taking apart old necklaces and creating new ones with the vintage beads. My classmates were always excited to see my latest one-of-a-kind creations. Now as an adult, with my graphic design background, it seemed a natural progression for me to pursue a new creative outlet using my design skills in creating unique jewelry pieces. My early creations were mostly beaded projects utilizing colorful seed beads, Czech glass, Swarovski Crystals, along with semi precious stones and sterling accents. Today, I love working with metals, mixing and manipulating them, and my background in beading has now become that pop of color that I accent them with.
ln the pursuit of advancing my skills, I take classes periodically to learn new techniques. I was at the point where I wanted to start making my own components, and not use pendants and findings that anyone could purchase online. So when I first heard about Metal Clay, a few years back, I could already envision the multitude of possibilities! I knew that this wouldn't be something that I would try out on my own, so the search began for a class in my area. After I took my first class I was hooked! I continue to take classes to this day, learning new information and techniques in this ever-changing medium. And now, I get to share my knowledge and enthusiasm about metal clay with others!
Today I enjoy mixing my skills in Metal Clay along with my old school metal working techniques to create very unique, one-of-a-kind pieces.
