(Item # E-147) 325 Mesh Sifting Screen
To keep transparent enamels from appearing cloudy, we remove the extra fine particles (called “fines”) from the enamel powder by sifting. (Sifting opaque enamels is unnecessary.) This 325 Mesh screen is perfect for maximum clarification. To screen your enamels, place a small amount of enamel in the screen and add a quarter. The coin moves with the enamel, helping push the fines through the screen. Sift over a container to catch the fines, which can be used as counterenamel or discarded. Gently sift side-to-side for about 30 seconds. Use only the enamel that remains in the screen for enameling onto your project.
*Always wear a dust mask when sifting enamels. Airborne enamel dust can be harmful when inhaled. Dust masks rated P95, N95 or higher are appropriate.
